It was even colder in Manchester when we traveled over there on the last day of January. The recent weather had reduced our numbers leaving Jonathan to carry our flag in the latest iter-club at Middleton. He was matched against Tom from Waterloo Street gym. We haven’t come across them before.
 Jonathan played an intelligent match, capitalizing on his opponents mistakes with some quick counters. Well done.
Back at base, at last it’s beginning to get a bit warmer and class sizes are increasing. Let’s hope they stay that way.
Baby it's cold outside. We've just had our first snow of the winter and the temperature has dropped accordingly. Inevitably tht has lead to smaller classes. However, we're looking forward to the New Year and our first outing at the end of January. Those who celebrate too well will doubtless regret it.
Earlier, it was nice to welcome Patrick back briefly as he continues his studies in Teesside. He was able to join us for a couple of sessions and tell us of his recent successes.
Not surprisingly news for our Newswatch feature is a bit thin on the ground, but we'll be updating it as and when we hear of something interesting.
As usual at this time of year we wish you all well and hope for a peaceful New Year.
It was disappointing that the scheduled inter club at Middleton was called off. Unfortunately Organizer Pete Feeley’s father was taken seriously ill and Peter thought, quite rightly, that family must come first and that his place was at his father’s bedside.
Meanwhile, back in Bradford, classes are very busy, particularly the six o clock sessions which are full. It’s been nice to see some old faces and welcome some promising newcomers.

Our first outing of the new season is on 10th October when we take a team of three to Middleton for their latest interclub. So, it’s good luck to Jack, David and Adam. Adam is making his final appearance before joining the RAF. Good luck to al of them, we’ll let you know how they get on.
Farewell to August. The combination of holidays, Ramadan and the recession has inevitably meant that the gym has been quiet of late. However, we’ve got some enthusiastic newcomers to welcome to our ranks.
Our sessions at Carlton Bolling College, their activities week and their Summer Camp both proved to be highly enjoyable. We wish all their students all the best in the future.

Well done Patrick Holmes, an old boy of this club, currently at university in the North East. He has just won a fight in Phuket, Thailand,, fighting a local fighter from Patong.
In the first round his opponent gave Patrick some hard punches and roundhouses, which he countered with some round houses of his own. The round finished with a couple of elbows, flooring his opponent.
In the second round Patrick applied the pressure with some body shots and twelve low kicks. He cornered him and delivered a fast hand combination knocking his opponent out.
Back in Bradford, our next events are at Carlton Bolling College where we're booked in for their Activity Week and their Summer Camp “We had good fun last year, and it’s nice to be invited back” said Nigel.
Looking further ahead, Adam and “JD” are in training for a tournament at Bolton Reebok Stadium in SeptemberWell done lads. Congratulations to new boy JD who made his ring debut on May 10th at the Wicker Camp interclub against an opponent from GFK. It was a meeting in which both fighters took their time and fought an intelligent fight.
Congratulations also old boy Patrick Holmes. He’s training in Teesside at the moment as he continues his university career. He recently faught in Scotland and walked away with an Anglo-Scottish title
Building on our success of last year we have been invited back to Carlton Bolling College to take part in their activity week followed by their summer camp. It should be fun for all concerned.
Gosh - is it really ten years? March 1st sees our 10th anniversary. Looking back Nigel remembers “ There were times when I didn’t think we’d make it. We spent a lo of money on press advertising but on our opening night only three people turned up - and they were all instructors from rival clubs who came to see what was going on. There wasn’t much to see.
Our anniversary falls on a Sunday, so we will be closed, but it would be nice to meet up with former students for a drink and a chat.” Al former members are invited to get in touch here:-email us.
Well done Adam who had a good bout at the recent Middleton interclub against Mark from Kao Loi. It was a pleasant change for him to be matched against someone more like his own size. His weight loss obviously paid off. We’re not certain what’s instore next - watch this space.
A wasted day.We had been looking forward to an enjoyable time at the PennineLounge on December 6th. Unfortunately, nobody had thought to let us know the event had been cancelled. Thanks.
Better luck that day for Patrich Holmes, competing in Leeds for the Teesside Thai Boxing club which he is attending whilst he is studying in Middlesbrough. He beat Ronan O’Driscoll of Bad Company over 5 rounds,. We would have been better off watching that.
Great news we were delighted to hear from Thieab. Thieab taught at our camp some years ago and continued to take an interest, playing host to students who traveled to Thailand. Unfortunately we lost contact with him after the tsunami, despite repeated efforts to trace him. We’re delighted to say that he is alive and well and look forward to working with him in the future.
Our next interclub will be on December 6th at Oldham. 5 members will be taking part, James, David Morgan Adam and Murtaza. We’ll let you know how they get on.
Congratulations to Siam, Omar, Zawaar Rakeem, Arjun Frankie and Jamie on successfully completing their Junior Grade 1 grading. Well done, also, to Khalis for preparing them for it.

We’re likely to be quieter than usual for the next few weeks as we loose some students who will be fasting for Ramadan. We look forward to seeing them at the end of September and in the meantime wish them Ramadan mubarak
Congratulations to Leon on winning his first fight.
His opponent, at the Manhattan Snooker Club in Harrogate, was Aaron Rodley from the Bad Company camp in Leeds
 It was all action from the start as both fighters gave all they had. In the first round Leon probably had the upper hand for most of it, although he received a good kneeing from Aaron. The second round was his best round and the referee gave his opponent a standing eight count after Leon delivered strong punching combinations to the head.
The third round saw both men extremely tired and it was Leon's turn to receive a standing eight after some mistaken footwork gave his opponent the opportunity he had been waiting for to deliver telling blows to the head.
At the end of the contest it was tense as the referee collected the judges votes and relief as he raised Leon's hand in victory.
Comings and Goings It’s that time of year when we see a lot of arrivals and departures. It’s fond fare wells to Yasser and Patrick who have gone off to further their academic careers. It will certainly be a lot quieter without them, although both have said they’ll be back when they can. It’s welcome back to some of our overseas students, Zang An and Morgan included. It’s a particularly warm welcome to Yazid from Syria who has returned to us for the time being.

Many thank to Carlton Bolling College in Bradford for inviting us to be part of their activities week, a fun way to end the school year. Nigel and Kuljit spent 4 days in the school teaching Thai Boxing to a range of pupils both male and female.
Nigel commented “ It was hard work but tremendously satisfying to teach such a well motivated and enthusiastic group of young people. I can easily see how the college deserves it’s status as as an “outstanding school.”
Unfortunately illness and work commitments meant that we sent only one competitor to Middleton for their newly revived interclub, bur congratulations to Michael Hammerton-Singh against his taller opponent Dale Tunaclifee from the Siam Camp. Both of them did extremely will in a very fast battle.
Our next venture will be next month when Nigel will spend a week at the end of term in a local school. More details later.
Marching on.As February turns into March our sessions are probably more full than they have ever been before, with some of them over subscribed. It’s a nice way to mark our 9th birthday on the 1st.
Our next even will be the Bad Company interclub in Leeds and it looks as though we will have 9 participants. We’ll let you know how they get on.
It was a long day when we crossed into Manchester for the latest of the Middleton interclubs. We were on first and last on a day that surprised the organisers with it’s popularity. Having left at 9 in the morning the main party did not get back until 10 at night. Still, it was worth it, according to Nigel. “I was very pleased with all our seven members who took part,” he said. In the juniors Tom Lancaster and Frankie Habib both performed very strongly. Brother Jamie battled bravely against a more experienced adversary, and Jordan put in a good performance and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Amongst the seniors, Mark made his comeback with style, Tom made a confident debut and Fred showed considerable improvement in his second outing

It has been very enjoyable catching up with former members who have popped in to say hello, and even do some training, over the Christmas period. Many thanks for calling on us.
With the winter break now finally over, it’s time to get down to some serious training once again. It looks as though our first outing will be before the end of January, to Middleton. We are still awaiting confirmation of the details, but as soon as we have them we’ll let you know
Our sincerest apologies for the lack of recent updates. Unfortunately we lost our internet connection and our provider was very slow in restoring it. We could keep up with e-mail thanks to a local facility, but we could not upload anything. We’ve done our best to make amends by placing the news watch features we should have brought you in the News Archive.
Lessons have been very busy recently, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we have some promising newcomers.
We had hoped to bring you news of some more events by now. However, those we thinking about were either moved our canceled playing havoc with our schedules
However, we have our eyes on some events as early as January next year, so Christmas will have to be celebrated moderately by certain people. .
A difficult day to forget - but well worth the effort was the verdict on our last journey across the Pennines for the lates interclub at Middleton on 9th September.
The Journey there was horrendous. Many thanks to the very helpful staff at Bradford Interchange who did their best under very difficult circumstances. No thanks at all though to the member of staff at Huddersfield who was as communicative as a lamp post in the fog.
Other commitments meant that we only had two people taking part. Fred made his debut with an assured performance, although his footwork left something to be desired.
Adam, however, was disappointed when his match was stopped in the second round because his opponent had very poor control.
We shall be missing some of our students for a month during Ramadan. May we wish them Ramadan Mubarak and we look forward to their return.
Whatever Happened to Summer? Is the question we have been asking round here. A truly miserable non event. But as we approach September we shall once again be welcoming some new students as out Muslim members prepare for Ramadan.
Before then it’s another trip across the Pennines for another interclub in Middleton on the 9th. This time we have three first timers, Imran, Fred and Adam. We’ll let you know how they get on.
Hello and Goodbye. We've been very happy to welcome two old friends recently. First up was David Broyles from Texas (see David's Diary). He was last with us seven years ago so we had a lot to catch up. He stayed with us for a week and was able to get in a bit of training, see some sights and also meet up with old friends Khalis and Mahfuz. M ahfuz was able to show him how his boxing skills had improved since his last visit.
Almost as soon as he had gone Yazid from Syria but currently staying in London joined us for a few days and a fight with Tom Bird of Bad Company at Mike Tobin's promotion at Yorkshire Cricket Club.
He was probably slightly ahead for the first two rounds, but unfortunately lost his footing in the third. Tom took advantage to give him a good kneeing and Yazid took an eight count. He got up but Tom followed up with another kneeing and this time Yazid didn't beat the count. Never the less, a very good and sporting fight.
The Rover’s Return. We’re looking forward to greeting two old friends in July. First up will be David Broyles from Texas. He was with us many years ago, as detailed in David's Diary. He’s had many an adventure since then and we’re looking forward to an update from him. He’ll also be looking forward to catching up with his old friends.

It was across the Pennines once more as six of us made our way to Middleton for Pete Feeley’s latest interclub held on 20th May.
Asif started off with a sound job for the seniors. Majid, however, was less lucky. In the second round he received a cut and, much to his disappointment, the bout was, rightly, brought to a halt.
For the Juniors, Sakib but in a good performance. Others, however, paid the price of their lack of application when training.
It’s April and the longer days are upon us, with most classes very busy. Congratulations to two of “Old Boys,” Matt for his recent victory on Master A’s show and Patrick for a silver medal at a recent Chinese Kick boxing event.
Our next event is likely to be the next Middleton inter-club next month. We’ll keep you posted.
The new year is upon us and students are drifting back and we’ve welcomed some faces we haven’t seen for quite a while. The diary is also starting to fill up. We hope to be taking part in the Bad Company interclub in Leeds on February 11th and Leon is due for his second fight on the 25th in Batley in Dean White’s promotion at the Frontier Club.
We are also hoping to welcome another overseas guest in the near future.

Our Newswatch feature continues (don’t forget to press Refresh) although there have’t been as many updates as we would like recently. We expect that to change as things get going again after the Christmas and New Year period.

Shamus was our representative at the Wicker Camp interclub on the 12th. He put up a good performance against a much taller opponent, as he said afterwards “ it was goos experience.”
We’re not certain when our next event will be at the moment, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know.
October is here and the nights are getting darker. The Classes are very busy despite some members being away because if Ramadan. On Sunday the 15th Leon and Michael made the trip to Middleton to take part in Peter Feeley’s Interclub. Both of them got a surprise. Michael from the juniors discovered how much work was needed to win and Leon was surprised when his opponent turned out to be a different one from that scheduled.
Leon had been hoping to fight in Horwich on the 22nd but his opponent pulled out at the last minute due to injury, so it looks as though our next outing will be the Wicker Camp interclub in Sheffield on November 12th.
